Left Turns Prohibited in Active Construction Zones on El Camino Real in San Mateo County Through September

SAN MATEO COUNTY ― To prevent gridlock and enhance safety, left turns are prohibited on State Route 82 (El Camino Real) in active construction zones within the cities of San Mateo, Burlingame, and Hillsborough.

Vehicles may not turn left within the following sections of El Camino Real:

• Easton Ave to Ray Dr through mid-September
• Bellevue Ave to Sanchez Ave through end of September
• Hilltop Rd to Peninsula Ave through mid-September

These left-turn restrictions are in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the duration of construction in each listed work zone.

The $173M El Camino Real roadway rehabilitation project will maintain El Camino Real as a safe, accessible, and reliable transportation corridor. The project encompasses repaving the road and upgrading sidewalks for enhanced mobility. It also aims to reduce localized flooding and to improve visibility.
