ECS Wellness Committee
Evansville Christian Elementary and Middle School participate in the National School Lunch Program. Any school within that program is required to implement a Wellness Policy. This policy is created as a guide for students, staff, and families to refer to for certain nutrition/wellness topics such as smart snacks, nutrition label guidance, and the goals set in place to keep our school on track! A committee is formed to help create and enforce the policy. The 2022-2023 Wellness Committee will be meeting January 10, 2023. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas that you would like the committee to discuss please contact Abigail Parker, Wellness Coordinator.

Offer Versus Serve
Under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), ECS must offer five food components to Elementary students. In order to reduce food waste, we allow students to choose which foods they want. This means we are an Offer Versus Serve (OVS) campus! Discuss with your student that they are not required to take every item that is offered, although they can if they would like. Students must take at least three of the five food components, including ½ cup of fruit and/or vegetable. Milk is optional. If your student knows he/she will not drink the milk or eat a certain item, please explain that they do not have to take it. Talk through how your student may like to build their lunch tray and remind them that reducing food waste is so important!

Enrolling New Siblings for 23/24
If you are enrolling a sibling as a new student at ECS, we strongly encourage you to submit an online application during a priority window for ECS families that is before we open enrollment to new families. As our school has grown significantly, we expect to have wait pools for many grade levels (especially Kindergarten), so it is in your best interest to enroll new siblings during the priority window.
-
You may submit the online application at any time (no deadline), but your priority window is now through January 8th. After January 8th, spots will be open to new families as well.
-
You can easily access the online application by logging into your FACTS Family Portal at the link below. Then in the blue menu on the left, click on “Apply/Enroll” and follow the "Application" steps for a new student application. You can also visit our website under the Admissions Menu to start an application.
-
Be sure to select the 2023/24 school year when you begin the application.
- For currently enrolled ECS families, an online application fee of $25 per student will be due when you submit the application.
