If you have questions or would like to schedule a virtual meeting to discuss the changes, please contact your Physician Outreach Liaison or email PhysicianOutreach@ecuhealth.org

ABN & Patient Registration Reminder

To ensure proper documentation and compliance with CMS requirements for the Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN), all patients with lab or radiology appointments at an ECU Health facility must first stop at PAS for registration. When you refer patients for these services, please remind them of this process to help prevent delays and patient dissatisfaction.

Additional details for external providers

  • No changes have been made to your ordering process.
  • Medicare patients may be asked to sign an ABN waiver if the system flags their order/diagnosis as not covered.
  • If a patient declines a test due to potential out-of-pocket costs, they will be directed to follow up with your office.
  • Patients are not required to pay upfront—the ABN simply informs them of possible costs.
  • Patients must complete registration at PAS before proceeding to their appointment.

For questions or concerns, please send an email to the Physician Outreach team at PhysicianOutreach@ecuhealth.org.
