EDA funds $50,000 for Germanna project

On Monday, the Fredericksburg EDA approved $50,000 in FY 2020 to assist with the construction of the college's planned Allied Health Building at the Locust Grove campus. The facility will bolster Germanna's extremely strong nursing and health-technology programs, which provide training for a significant percentage of the workforce for Mary Washington Hospital and other local healthcare entities. 
Road closures planned for Historic 
2019 Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon

The Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon is this Sunday. More than 5,000 people have signed up for the half marathon, and there will be anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 spectators. There will be lots of traffic and congestion on Sunday morning, so here are a few things you should know about road closures.  

City Technology Zone companies meet performance thresholds

First-year results are positive for the City's three Technology Zone companies operating under five-year performance agreements. QRC Technologies, IST Research and ILM Corporation have been successfully meeting performance agreement requirements outlined in 2017 by Fredericksburg City Council.

City's new brand will focus on what makes us unique

HUB Collective, the City's branding consultant, was in town last week to discuss progress made toward creating a unified brand identity for Fredericksburg. HUB is now halfway through the branding process and expects to finish by the end of July. The brand will include a logo, font, illustrations and photography to create a cohesive presence for the city.

Rink construction begins

Construction has begun! W.C. Spratt is now busy at Dixon Park moving earth to build Fredericksburg's new outdoor roller-hockey rink. We are excited about this joint project between the City and the Washington Capitals. Stay tuned for updates. 

Fredericksburg Children's Museum celebrates anniversary with new exhibits
'Freehling Finds' features children's museum 

On this week's episode of "Freehling Finds," Bill visits the Fredericksburg Children's Museum in Eagle Village to see the two new interactive exhibits recently introduced at the museum as part of its five-year anniversary celebration.

Hilldrup becomes one of first Fredanthropists

City's philanthropic program gaining momentum

Word is quickly spreading about the City's Fredanthropist program. Launched last week, Fredanthropists are a unique partnership between the City and area businesses and individuals for the purpose of making a positive impact in the community through financial contributions.

Sheetz re-opens in Celebrate Virginia South

The Sheetz gas station in Celebrate Virginia South passed its final inspection last week and re-opened this past weekend. The store closed due to a fire on May 5. 
Rappahannock Goodwill president to retire  

Donnie Tolson, Rappahannock Goodwill Industries' president and CEO, will retire Sept. 4. Under his leadership, the organization is in the third year of a five-year strategic plan that focuses on creating jobs, building relationships with businesses, transitioning individuals to jobs outside Goodwill and providing training not available elsewhere.

Change of location increases Chalk N More's footprint

A last-minute location change by owners Tracee and Rod Fisher places the re-opening of Chalk N More at 1777 Carl D. Silver Pkwy. beside Bonefish Grill in Central Park. Doors open July 20.
