Original Knowledge

Les Rencontres de l'EDAR is an annual meeting of the Doctoral program in Architecture and Sciences of the City, aimed at gathering the entire EDAR community. Organised in collaboration with the Institute of Architecture and the City (IA), the 2025 edition will invite all interested scholars to reflect on the ways in which EDAR research meets the criterion of producing original scientific knowledge.


The interdisciplinary doctoral seminar will open with the two keynote lectures by Françoise Fromonot (ENSA Paris Belleville) and Filippo De Pieri (Politecnico di Torino), followed by 18 presentations by the EDAR PhD students: Dorothee Beckendorff (URBDEMO), Clément Cattin (LAST), Jolanda Devalle (TPOD), Wenxiu Du (URBDEMO), Farzaneh Eskandari (TPOD), Theodora Giovanazzi (TPOD), Jules Grandvillemin (LASUR), Summer Islam (RIOT), Chloé Joly-Pottuz (FAR), Simon Ladino Cano (HERUS), Emma Larcelet (LAPIS), Constantinos Marcou (TPOD), Ella Neumaier (HITAM), Martin Peikert (FAR), Clément Rames (LASUR), Eleni Skevaki (CRCL), Yegor Vlasenko (LAB-U), Eloïse Vo (ALICE).

Call for applications

Verzasca Foundation announces a call for applications for annual prize for research linked to the Verzasca Valley or of general interest to the realities of the subalpine valleys in the canton of Ticino. Calls for papers

Università Iuav di Venezia and Politecnico di Milano announce the call for papers for the 11th edition of Urbanism&Urbanisation International PhD seminar, which will be hosted in Venice, Italy, on October 29-31, 2025. The aim of the seminar is to combine the interpretation of urbanisation processes with the commitment and care for the urban condition in all its manifold manifestations and bring together urban theory and the theoretical grounding of urbanism with innovative practice. Thresholds journal announces a call for papers for its new issue entitled Record. The issue seeks to explore the liminal space between the act of recording and record as an embodied account in art and architecture, through history, criticism, and future imaginary. Contributions are invited from various disciplines, geographies and timescales, focused on the role record(ing) plays in both unworlding and rebuilding. Articles of 3,000 words should be submitted to thresh@mit.edu by June 1, 2025. The Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) announces the call for its 79th Annual International Conference, which will be held in Mexico City, Mexico, on April 15–19, 2026. The conference features 54 thematic sessions and encourages submissions from architectural, landscape, and urban historians, museum curators, preservationists, independent scholars, architects, and scholars in related fields.
