EDAWN attended the Nevada Aviation Association Annual Conference in Las Vegas from April 6 to 8. SVP of Business Development Heather Wessling-Grosz served on a panel with the University of Nevada to discuss Northern Nevada's infrastructure and capacity constraints, an important conversation as we continue to grow our aviation and aerospace footprint.

EDAWN was also represented at the SIOR Spring Forum in Palm Springs, California, from April 13 to 17. The forum convenes top industrial real estate leaders for actionable insights on the sector, and our participation strengthens relationships with the brokers and site selectors who guide major location decisions.

EDAWN’s Business Development and Attraction Team works to secure new expansion facilities and/or relocations from new primary companies exploring the Greater Reno-Sparks market. The team acts as a concierge service for companies, providing customized market data, responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) from site selectors and companies considering major investments in both real estate and resulting in high quality employment growth for the region.

EDAWN Primary Company Weber Metals has invested more than $21 million in their Northern Nevada facility over the past three years, adding an 8,000-ton forging press, caustic etch cleaning line, and an upgraded thermal treatment center. The company has committed another $50 million over the next two years to double production capacity, with plans for a 15,000-ton closed-die forging press and new job creation to support the growth.

Free Founder Fridays kicked off this month at the Innevation Center and Address Income, bringing together Reno-area founders for a morning of focused work and real conversation. This week on May 1st, we head to Bernal Co-working. The program runs every Friday through June at rotating venues across Reno, and registration is free at startupreno.org. EDAWN's Entrepreneurial Development team and the Reno Startup Week Executive Council traveled to Boise for Hack Fort, part of the Treefort Music Festival. We toured ecosystem hubs like Kiln and JUMP, connected with local community builders, and attended sessions on building with AI, pitch competitions, and more. It was a great reminder that vibrant startup communities don't happen by accident, and we're bringing those lessons back to Reno.
