BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

Apple will expand their data & solar power center and will add 131 new jobs over the next few years with an average base wage of $69,000. This expansion increases opportunities for tech-based professionals, as Apple's capital investment will exceed $1 Billion, doubling the size of their current footprint in Washoe County. Heather represented Apple and introduced their expansion and abatement application to Governor Lombardo at the GOED hearing approved on July 25th.

SVP of Business Development and Attraction, Heather Wessling Grosz had the opportunity to attend the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) in Las Vegas, NV in early July. With over 3,000 attendees, this is the world's largest technical society, devoted to the Aerospace community. An exclusive event for business, government, and technology leaders shared cutting-edge developments.

EDAWN's Business Development team completed 11 site visits and 7 new leads for the month of July. The team is also pleased to announce 1 new project that is expanding its operations into our market.


The team reported a robust and growing pipline representing clean energy and supply chain opportunities inside the growing ‘Lithium Loop.’

Nevadaworks, our regional workforce board who is “Building a Stronger Workforce in Nevada,” has recently updated their website to support job seekers, employers, education system partners, sector partnerships, and grant delivery. BUSINESS RETENTION & EXPANSION UPDATES

Reno based freight brokerage DL Freight Solutions has expanded its capabilities by purchasing the regional rights of BTX Global Reno, a freight forwarding company offering international freight services. DL Freight Solutions, like its ownership group, is born and raised in Nevada and is excited to provide a one stop shop for freight to their friends and neighbors. For any freight land, air, or sea, imported or exported, big and small, DLFS and BTX Global is here to handle your transportation needs. 

The team is thrilled to share the news that Monin, which currently employs over 70 individuals in Northern Nevada, plans to add approximately 10 new positions in the coming months as its second facility becomes fully operational.

The Business Retention Team visited 13 of our existing companies in July. As a result of these visits, we are pleased to announce 41 non-assisted, added jobs, for the month, with an anticipated additional 56 jobs next year.

Nevada Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is conducting a confidential survey of Nevada-based small businesses and startups in an effort to better understand challenges your business is facing, obstacles to accessing capital for small businesses, and gaps in the business support ecosystem.

The 18th Annual NCET Business Expo, is scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2024. This free, public event expects to draw over 1,000 attendees.
