Alumni Spotlight: Mari Watanabe

Mari Watanabe

Executive Director Partners in Diversity
Director, Leadership Portland
Portland Business Alliance

It has been 13 years since I graduated from EDI.  I would not say it seems like yesterday, because I feel like I have grown quite a bit over the years. However, my EDI experience is still in the forefront of my mind, after all, EDI changed me.  I was one of those who felt I was good at my job and rose up through the ranks little by little.  Until that day when I was passed over for a promotion.

"What!  I did NOT get the job?!   And that "brown noser" did!?"........enter EDI. Read More

Alumni on the Move

Congratulations to EDI Alumni:

May Leong, Leadership Navigation,
Class of 2011, is now the Executive Director of Cameron House.

"The EDI Navigation Program is a must for any aspiring senior Asian and/or Hispanic professional looking to ramp up their game and move into a higher level of success and leadership. What I learned through the workshops, projects, coaches, and peers is invaluable. The connections and collegial support we developed during the program still remains strong today. In fact, I now serve on the Board of one of my classmate's nonprofit organization, Spreeha Foundation."

Monica Lin-Meyer, Leadership Navigation, Class of 2008,  has been promoted to Vice President, Employee Engagement at Waggener Edstrom Worldwide.

 "

As a member of the very first Leadership Navigation cohort, my eyes were opened about what it means to be an authentic, effective and intentional leader.  EDI started me down the path of my current career focus - that is, consulting with companies on organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and internal communications.  Quite literally, without EDI, I would not be where I am today - and, for that, I am forever grateful."

Victor Mizumori ,  Class of 1995, Washington Federal , has been promoted to Senior Vice President.

"There were a lot of different topics that I benefited from.  The skill that I utilize the most is in working with, and networking  with the Executive team members of my different companies over the years.  Understand your companies vision and develop your actions and activities towards that end.  Don't focus on what's wrong, but on how to move forward."

If you have received a promotion/award or know of an Alumni who did, please email Rebecca at rebecca@ediorg.org
