Episco-Parenting Project Listening Sessions

Are you a parent, grandparent, or caregiver? The diocese wants to hear from you as we embark on the new Episco-Parenting Kit initiative.

At the heart of the project rests the sharing of at-home ministry kits (think Stitch Fix or Purple Carrot), containing engaging resources for busy households to enjoy together. These kits will be grounded in the theological tradition of The Episcopal Church, and available in both English and Spanish. Each kit will offer spiritual practices, foundational beliefs, tools for applying faith in modern life, and food elements so families of all types and backgrounds can break bread together.

In our upcoming listening sessions, we are looking to hear your perspectives and dreams for faith sharing and kit development. What are your needs, hopes, and desires when it comes to sharing your faith with the children in your life?

Christ Church, Slidell, Selected to Participate in ECF's Pivot Program

Christ Church, Slidell, was selected to participate in the 2023 Pivot program, a year-long, cohort-based learning experience that allows smaller, under-resourced communities of faith to discern what God is calling them to be in their particular place and time while building relationships with other congregations from across the country. The experience is a way of pivoting mindsets into becoming truly relevant places of worship, community, and faith in local areas.

The Rev. Harry Jenkins, rector of Christ Church stated, "We are excited to be able to participate in this program. We believe that this experience will strengthen our leadership skills and have a positive impact on our efforts to grow our church and expand our ministries. During this program, we will access our strengths, learn more about the neighborhood we serve, and connect our personal charisms with community needs."

Pivot is a leadership grant from Trinity Church Wall Street that is under the direction of the Episcopal Church Foundation. The purpose of the grant is to create a digital version of ECF’s successful Congregational Leadership Initiative (CLI) to be available online to the entire church.

More information about Pivot can be found here.

Mount Olivet Making Progress on Historic Renovation in Algiers Point

On December 4, Bishop Duckworth and Canon Morgan MacIntire visited Mount Olivet, New Orleans, to view the progress on the restoration of the 150+ year-old sanctuary. Most recently, the stained glass windows have been reinstalled. Throughout the renovation, priority has been given to honoring the historic nature of the building. The congregation has been integral to the close-knit Algier's Point neighborhood since its founding in 1846. Mount Olivet has opened its doors on many occasions to neighborhood events and neighbors have assisted financially in the restoration project. In October, the Preservation Resource Center hosted a tour of the church as part of their series that showcases historic renovations in progress.

You can follow the restoration on Mount Olivet's Facebook Page. Donations are gratefully accepted on Mount Olivet's GoFundMe page.
