Air Performance to add 18 jobs in Geneva County expansion
HARTFORD, Alabama - Air Performance, which fabricates a wide range of custom architectural products, announced plans today to invest more than $1 million to double the size of its Geneva County manufacturing operation. The project will initially create 18 jobs, with the potential for more in the future.
Air Performance now operates a 40,000-square-foot manufacturing site in Hartford, which employs a majority of the company's 70 workers. The state-of-the-art facility utilizes modern CNC fabrication technology to produce commercial louvers, sunshades and specialized aluminum products for major building projects.
The expansion, announced today at a groundbreaking ceremony in Geneva County, comes at a time when Air Performance has been awarded several new commercial projects.
Jefferson County is home to one of the most unique transportation hubs in the Southeast. Few people outside those who do business there, though, even know it exists.
City and county officials would like to see that change and recently put up $675,000 to develop the port into a lure for industries that could use it to import or export their products.
Port Birmingham is located along the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River about 22 miles west of downtown Birmingham. Watco Companies handles much of the operations on the waterway in the county. The short-line rail company owns 182 acres with a half-mile of river frontage, which it bought from U.S. Steel about five years ago.
United Launch Alliance will invest $115.6 million locally on new technology and infrastructure in preparation to build the Vulcan launch system at the company's Morgan County plant.
Meanwhile, Huntsville-based Dynetics Inc. has announced additional projects to build facilities on ULA property, bringing its projected employee count in Morgan County to 25.
ULA is expected to complete its capital investment by the end of 2020, according to the Morgan County Economic Development Association.
