WELCOME
to our Fall 2020 Newsletter
We are pleased to provide an update on our vibrant community of students, faculty, and alumni at the Electrical Engineering Department at Columbia University. Even in these complicated and challenging times, the department has risen to the challenge of its teaching, research, scholarship, and service and we have been able to continue our work with minimal disruption.
Our faculty and students continue to receive international acclaim. To name a few highlights, Prof. Michal Lipson was elected to be the 2021 VP of Optical Society and was awarded the society's Tindall Prize, Prof. Fred Jiang is developing a new way to screen large groups of people for fevers, and Prof. Harish Krishnaswamy is leading a team that is the first to build a high-performance non-reciprocal radio device on a compact chip with a performance 25 times better than previous work. Our faculty, students, and alumni have also been awarded a wide range of competitive best paper and society awards; a few are highlighted below.
As always, we are continuing to recruit new students and post-docs for our various programs, and encourage interested students to apply. For those interested in our PhD program, our webinar is scheduled for November 13th, and you can register here or share this link.
My best wishes for a successful fall semester!
