Welcome to our Spring 2021 Newsletter!
I am excited to share our newsletter with a report on the progress made by our faculty, students, and alumni. Despite this year's challenges, we have significant progress on new research programs, new awards, and other activities advancing the mission of our department.

A few faculty highlights in this month's newsletter include:
-Prof. Shih-Fu Chang was selected to serve as Interim Dean of Columbia Engineering
-Prof. Christine Hendon was named a 2021 SPIE Fellow
-Prof. Debasis Mitra was elected as an AAAS Fellow

We also have a number of alumni and students that have been honored with awards including:
-PhD Alumni Maria Gorlatova and Jin Zhou received NSF Career Awards
and 
-PhD student Gavin Mischler received an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
