As we head into September, we are about a month into the school year and I would say "so far, so good". We remain hopeful school continues in person and EEF is doing all we can to provide immediate support to TUSD students and teachers. Classroom Grants have been distributed so teachers can forge ahead with their projects. See one of those projects below.

As of right now, we are planning an in-person 22nd Davies Luncheon. Since we're moving the Luncheon to the Tucson Convention Center, we have double the space available which allows for spreading out tables and we may consider seating 5 guests to a table. By next month's newsletter, our Luncheon Committee will make a final decision on how to best proceed depending on the Delta variant impact. Stay tuned.

You should have received the back-to-school appeal letter which supports EEF's vital programming, including basic needs to reduce and eliminate barriers to education. If you only receive this newsletter, you may donate online. Your support is truly and always appreciated.

Sincerely,

Dawn Bell
Executive Director

TMC MEET ME DOWNTOWN
EEF is honored to be a beneficiary of funds raised by the TMC Meet Me Downtown 5K Run/Walk + Festival of Miles. The EEF team and volunteers had a great time helping to distribute water to participants!

We loved cheering on all the participants but watching the FitKidz Mile Run truly stole our hearts!

Congrats to all participants! And thank you to Southern Arizona Roadrunners for your support!
CLASSROOM GRANTS IN ACTION!
Teenage Parent High School (TAP) has installed a beautiful indoor vegetable garden!EEF awarded a classroom grant to Mrs. A, who teaches Early Childhood Education at TAP. The grant paid for a farm stand from Lettuce Grow and herb seedlings like mint, baby lettuce, Astro Arugula, Genovese Basil, Bok Choy, and Baby Lettuce Mix.

The idea to focus on parents modeling healthy lifestyles for their children was based on student interest in gardening.
