ITRC's New Emerging Environmental Leaders Forum is in Full Swing!

The Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council (ITRC), is excited to share updates from the Emerging Environmental Leaders (EEL) Forum - a new initiative designed to support early-career professionals in the environmental field.

The EEL Forum provides a space for emerging leaders to connect across disciplines, develop leadership skills, and explore professional growth opportunities within ITRC’s collaborative network. Whether you're new to ITRC or already engaged on a project team or ITRC program, the Forum is a valuable way to get even more out of your experience.

What Have We Done so Far?

One interest meeting to introduce the Forum and gather ideas from participants

Two Formal Sessions, featuring expert panels with facilitated and open Q & A:

  1. A discussion on ERIS & the State Research Needs Report/ITRC Project Proposals
  2. A professional development session focused on networking and having constructive conversations

Our upcoming session will focus on Cross-Sector Collaboration: Navigating Difficult Conversations. Whether you work with government, academia, nonprofits, or the private sector, this topic is relevant to anyone engaging with diverse perspectives and priorities.

Who can join the Forum? The EEL Forum is open to all ITRC participants, but to take part, you must be active on an ITRC project team. This ensures that the Forum remains closely connected to ITRC’s core work—offering leadership opportunities that are grounded in real collaboration and technical advancement.

ITRC is a program of the Environmental Research Institute of the States (ERIS). ERIS is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the District of Columbia and managed by the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS).
