Housing and Lodging: Due to insurance and Malone University policies as well as safety during emergencies, we must provide Malone Safety a list of ALL individuals staying in the dormitories EACH night. Therefore, it is very important that individuals who register are very clear with the names of family members staying with them as well as the exact nights lodging will be needed. Celebrating Dads - Advice from Fathers
|
|
As we celebrated fathers this past Sunday, here is some advice from several fathers in our region:
"Know the difference between childish behavior and disobedience, then discipline accordingly." - Ken
"Be careful whose advice you buy but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts, and recycling it for more than it's worth." - Kevin
"As a father the greatest gift you can give your children is to love your wife well." - Andy
"TV dads do not make good role models for parenting." - Kolbi
"Give your child your time. When you are 40, 50 ... it will not matter if you worked more for the church, or made a few dollars more. What will matter is that you were there!" - Harold
"Choose your fights wisely with your kids. There will be too many to choose to fight them all. Not all of them are worth making an issue." - Dave
"Assuming you have the obvious covered, such as prayer, and loving God and such... Love your wife! Passionately, intentionally, daily, publicly and privately, with all your heart - love your wife. It will impact your children today, as your wife is energized, happy, and loving in return. It will continue to impact your children in adulthood as they gain their own spouses and treat them with love. It will also model for them Christ's love for the church." - Doug
"If you aim for nothing, you will hit it every time. What are your goals for your family. Plan to be the father you want to be and do the things necessary to get there. If you allow life to determine your agenda you will never be what you desire to be." - Greg
"Remember that each victory must be celebrated and remembered, and when the tough days go on and on, the story is not done: God is still working." - Wayne

Announcing Ecuador
:
At its meetings in the last week of May, the EFM Board adopted the country of Ecuador as the new EFM field with a special focus on the Shuar people group in the southeastern section of the country. The Shuar live deep in the jungle and very close to the border with Peru. There is a real opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus with the blessing of other Christian groups in Ecuador.
Visit friendsmission.com to learn more about the Badley family, who are preparing to go to Ecuador.
Announcement Regarding Dave Thomas:
Many of you
know that after almost 20 years of missionary service (18 of those in Rwanda), Dave and Debby Thomas and their children are moving this summer to Newberg, Oregon to support their children in their educational endeavors during the coming years. David will stay on as a missionary with EFM, based in the United States. He will work with Rwandan Friends leaders, become a non-resident member of the teams to develop new fields, and help raise up a new generation of missionaries. Please pray for the Thomas family as they move to Oregon. David's new responsibilities will begin in late summer 2016.
