NGM Diesel sets Duramax MPH WORLD RECORD
Congratulations to Wade Moody and his Flo-Pro Duramax Diesel Dragster team on setting a new world record of 7.58 @ 181 MPH last weekend at the NADM East Coast Nationals held in Numidia, PA.
Wade's truck still runs a standard factory LBZ E35A ECM with EFILive tuning from Johnboy, and with additional support from Zach @ Starlite Diesel and Ross @ EFILive. Please checkout the video, the Flo-Pro team is proving that to run fast in a Diesel doesn't mean you have to smoke out the track at the same time. It runs so clean and with plenty of RPM's the casual observer might think this vehicle is powered by a big block Chev not a Duramax Diesel.

V8 Scan Tool Preview
EFILive's V8 Scan Tool software development project is progressing well and should be ready for field testing as early as the end of August. Our current V7 Scan Tool was first released nearly 10 years ago, and since then it has been expanded well beyond it's original intention, exclusively an LS1 Scan Tool.
In the 10 years the EFILive V7 Scan Tool has been available we've seen many changes in technology, vehicle support, and customer needs. Our V8 Scan Tool incorporates many of these advances, including:
- Clean-sheet software design that takes full advantage of hardware graphics acceleration using industry standard OpenGL graphics.
- Many customers, particularly resellers and workshop owners who manage and support remote customers, have asked for a single configuration file that can be configured at the workshop and then emailed to their customers; the V8 Scan Tool software delivers that feature.
- Logging engine and transmission parameters simultaneously is supported in pass-thru logging with no channel limitations on CAN bus vehicles.
- The chart display provides a wealth of statistical information, including maximum, minimum, average and standard deviation data values. The statistical data is displayed visually on the charts and numerically in the coloured axis.
- Enhanced visual manipulation of the charts is provided. Individual series can be moved up/down and their scales can be zoomed just by rolling the scroll wheel.
- Log files can be cropped and concatenated.
- Data can be exported to popular data processing packages such as Excel, OpenOffice.
- Amazing improvement in speed, V7.5 currently takes 30 seconds for a 100,000 frame log to re-plot, V8 re-plots 190,000 frames in just 2.5 seconds.
- Scan and Tune tools are integrated, so no need to disconnect the scanner when it comes time to reflash the vehicle.

Cruze 1.4L Turbo comparisons
Our last newsletter detailed our Cruze conversion to Flex Fuel.
After cautiously adding E10 and testing our component changes, we added E85 to our already half full tank. As we reported, our Cruze was happily running on 44% ethanol, with virtually no knock.
Time for some data comparisons. Stock from the factory, the 1.4L is rated at 148 lbft (200 Nm) and 138 HP (103 KW).
Our 44% E85 mix, has allowed about 5 more degrees of timing before knock appears at WOT (though we suspect this is false knock anyway). The current tune is pushing it to about 19 PSI of boost from 4,400RPM up. The scanner reported maximum torque of 204 lb-ft (277 Nm) and maximum of 190 HP (141 KW). Sadly, this is almost the same torque as the 2010+ 3.0L SIDI V6 GM has, 212 lbft (288 Nm) @ 5800 RPM. With some 0-60 MPH runs, our Cruze hit 'just' under the 7 second mark, 6.9 seconds to be exact. Our vehicle remains stock - stock intake manifold, stock air box and filter, no hardware mods at all (well, except the E85 conversion). We have now reached the point where the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is causing issues by reducing the throttle to 45% just after the 1-2 shift as the wheels start to break traction, unfortunately turning off the traction control does not disable this 'feature'.

Customer Stories - Heather Powell
This is my 2002 LB7 ZF6 Duramax. My truck is running EFILive custom tuning by Dan's Diesel Performance in Marengo, IL. For my tunes I chose an economy tune that averages 22-23 running 80mph down the interstate with 33" tires, a tow tune for hauling trailers, a moderate performance tune, and a high horse power performance tune for weekend competitions. My truck serves a purpose as a daily driver, a farm truck, and a sled puller all while maintaining reliability. This truck runs smooth, it's nice to drive, and burns clean on the road. This truck differs from most that are on the road as it is backed with a manual transmission. This truck originally dynoed 477hp and 878ft/lb torque with only a big horse power tune, Valair dual disc clutch, and an MBRP 4" exhaust. Everything else was still stock (stock turbo, stock fuel, stock air intake). Since then, a few small accessories have been added and my most recent dyno results were 555hp and 1222 ft/lb. I couldn't ask for better tuning than what my truck is currently running. The truck is responsive, reliable, and powerful when I need it.

Did You Know? - Error Codes
Error codes occur for a variety of reasons. EFILive interacts with many different components along the supply chain from software installation, to hardware integration and of course vehicle connection. Each individual connection needs to work harmoniously to deliver the end result.
Because of the vast array of interactions, when users are faced with an error code it is critical to understand which error code you are receiving. A description isn't necessary, but the Error Code number is essential. For EFILive to deliver prompt and accurate customer service, customers need to provide the following details: - Error Code number
- Software version and build number.
- FlashScan/AutoCal firmware version.
- Windows operating system version.
- Vehicle type and controller operating system number (eg, ECM, TCM)
However before you do go to the trouble of logging a support ticket, starting a thread on our forum or sending EFILive an email, did you know you can access a PDF file detailing the error codes? Simply click on your Windows Start menu, then navigate through your program files to the EFILive folder. Located in the V8>Documents folder is a PDF file called EFILive Error Codes.
The EFILive Error Codes PDF lists all of our documented error codes along with descriptions of their cause, and the action to take to resolve the code. Why not drop this file to your desktop for easy reference, and who knows your support needs may just be answered without having to type a keystroke.
