Governor Walz - Turns Back the Dial
 
During a press conference last evening, Governor Walz announced a "Turn-back of the Dial" and in Executive Order 20-99 announced many changes to go into effect in response to the alarming increase in COVID cases in Minnesota. 
 
The Governor is ordering restaurants and bars to be closed for in-person service (both indoor and outdoor) for four weeks until December 18 beginning this Friday at 11:59 p.m.  Establishments may remain open for takeout.  Food courts in malls will also be closed for in-person service for four weeks. Food courts may remain open for takeout, but the food cannot be consumed at the mall.
 
Other measures announced::
 
  • Social gatherings - Limited to your own household (both indoor and outdoor) beginning Friday at 11:59 p.m.
 
  • Gyms, fitness centers and similar establishments - Closed for four weeks beginning Friday at 11:59 p.m.
 
  • Entertainment venues and indoor/outdoor seated venues -  Closed for four weeks, including bowling alleys, movie theaters, indoor ice rinks, live performance venues, public pools, and swim parks beginning Friday at 11:59 p.m.
 
  • Organized youth and adult sports -  Pausing for four weeks. College and professional sports may continue without spectators beginning Friday at 11:59 p.m.
 
  • Indoor recreation -  Facilities will be closed for four weeks beginning Friday at 11:59 p.m.
 
  • Events such as celebrations, receptions and private parties - Paused for four weeks beginning Friday at 11:59 p.m. Religious ceremonies and services may continue.
 
The Governor also is recommending and discouraging out of state travel, including asking out of state visitors and traveling Minnesotans to quarantine for 14 days.
 
The following remain open and unchanged:
  • General retail open at 100% with COVID precautions including social distancing.
  • Churches and worship centers remain open at 50% capacity.
  • Salons and other personal care services remain open at 50% capacity.
  • Outdoor recreation such as skating and skiing remain open.
  • Schools continue to operate under the Safe Learning Plan at the discretion of local school districts.
  • Child care providers can remain open.
  • Colleges and universities continue to operate under guidance from the State.

Promotion: Over 100 mentions in our Christmas Cash promos.  
Increased Foot Traffic: Customers make an effort to be part of this annual promotion.
Customers: Christmas Cash can only be spent at participating businesses
Reimbursed: 100% reimbursement when Christmas Cash is spent at your business.

The more the merrier!  
Prizes are $75 per drawing, the KK Radio Network contributes $300 to the prize pool. For every location that adds to the program after 12, $50 will be added to the prize pool.

Moondance, always a good time!!

We are located only 34 miles east of Park Rapids and just 7 miles east of the very unique and beautiful little town of Walker which overlooks Leech Lake, right in the middle of the Chippewa National Forest, along with the Northern Lights Casino which is just down the road from us. Moondance Events hosts 4 different events. We have many campgrounds which are available at each of our events. Just call ahead and we'll get you set up. The Moondance grounds also houses the Lazy Moon Bar & Grill, the MDJ Saloon, the Moondance Guesthouse, and the Moondance Fields. It's an ideal site for all gatherings: weddings, conventions, family reunions, any kind of private special party.
FISHING REPORT

AS THE SMALL SHALLOW LAKES FREEZE I’M LEANING TOWARDS THE BIG LAKES IN THE BOAT
Ice under 5” is not a good idea. If your in a Boat concentrate on early ice locations and presentations. Just don’t tell the fish you are in a Boat. Lol.
Fish the weed lines for walleyes and suspended panfish. The weed flats for pike. Live bait rigs with chubs will get it done. Slip bobbers with wax worms or crappie Minnows for the pan Fish.

Trolling shallow cranks at night will still produce walleyes. Troll tullibee colored baits for trophy pike or muskies.

Park Rapids Downtown Photo Contest
Whether photography is your passion, your hobby, or just an occasional pastime, we invite you to participate in our Park Rapids Downtown Business Association photo contest, celebrating the beauty and unique character of Park Rapids and the surrounding area.

Categories for photo entries are:
  1. Park Rapids Area Lake Scenes
  2. Park Rapids Main Street Scenes
  3. Park Rapids Area Recreation
  4. Park Rapids Area Wildlife
An individual may submit only one photo per category for each contest period.
Both amateur and professional photographers are welcome to participate. Photos must be submitted in digital format using the entry form below; see contest rules for details.
The Summer/Fall Contest opens on May 1st and ends November 30th.
The Winter/Spring Contest opens on December 1st ends April 30th.
The current contest period is May 1st, 2020 – November 30th, 2020
Max Bailey Photography sponsors the contest and awards a professionally finished, 11×14-inch print of the winning photograph in each category.

Park Rapids Area Community Fund Invites Grant Applications               
 
BEMIDJI, MN—October 15, 2020 − The Park Rapids Area Community Fund invites grant applications in support of charitable, educational and public purpose projects that will help the greater Park Rapids community address the challenges and opportunities that are central to our future in the area.

The Park Rapids Area Community Fund will consider grant applications up to $5,000.  Grants will be considered from any nonprofit organization or public agency whose project addresses one of the following topics: education and youth, community character, recreation and cultural opportunities, health care, expanding leadership, drug and alcohol awareness.

Applications are available at the Park Rapids Chamber of Commerce, 1204 Park Avenue South or you may call/email the Chamber at (218) 732-4111 or chamber@parkrapids.com for a copy to be emailed to you. An electronic copy of the application can be downloaded from www.nwmf.org under grants, then open grant rounds or the Park Rapids Area Chamber website. Grant applications are due November 30, 2020. Grants will be awarded by December 15.

At the Chamber, we strive to facilitate a robust and informative website where information can be found easily. Member's Business Directory Listing, Events, News, Hot Deals, Job Postings, etc. are all a part of parkrapids.com.  

Every Friday News (EFN) links to what is active on our website. We do our best to link to upcoming events at least 2 weeks prior to the event date but now that it's summer and there's so much going on, we can only fit so many things on the list.  
 
The first step: Make sure that your submission - to be - is already listed on parkrapids.com. This can be done through the Member Portal by either completing a Hot Deal, Job Posting, News Release or Event.
