EGSA's Yellow Ribbon Program
for Veterans
Starting in 2020, EGSA is proud to announce the start of our Yellow Ribbon Program to help match qualified veterans with our member companies.
The Promise
The purpose of the EGSA Yellow Ribbon Program is to help transitioning service members find careers after leaving the military. All five branches (Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard) have military occupations that parallel opportunities in the on-site power industry. EGSA member companies who join the Yellow Ribbon Program will be asked to guarantee an interview for veterans who pass the EGSA Apprentice Certification Test. It is our hope that establishing this direct line from the veterans to our members will help service members begin this new stage of their professional careers on the right foot.
How It Works
Veterans and service members who sign up for the program will be sent free study guides for the EGSA Apprentice Certification Test. Once the Apprentice Certification Exam is passed, EGSA will work with the veteran and a company who has joined the Yellow Ribbon Program to coordinate the interview. We will also provide resume reviews and interview skills mentoring to help them through this process.
EGSA member companies who are interested in joining the program will be asked to pay an annual fee of $400. This fee will cover the cost of study guides for service members and administrative fees. Once a service member has achieved the EGSA Apprentice Certification, we will reach out to the companies point of contact to coordinate an interview. It will be up to each individual company as to what positions they may have available. We understand there is an industry-wide need for technicians, but opportunities may also exist in the supply chain, administrative, training, sales, and managerial portions of the business.
