2022 EGU Annual General Meeting
Empire GU Empire GU will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at 10am via virtual meeting. Meeting details are as follows:

RSVP for AGM - REQUIRED
Clubs are REQUIRED to RSVP for the AGM no later than 5p August 4. Clubs which do not RSVP are considered to be not in good standing by Empire GU's Executive Board. Clubs not in good standing are ineligible to vote on Empire GU matters. Per EGU Bylaws, Proxies are not permitted. A quorum is necessary to conduct the business of the AGM (a quorum is defined as one-quarter of the voting members in good-standing).

Per EGU Policy (Policy Manual 4.5: Member Club Participation in EGU Meetings): Each Empire GU-member club is expected to participate in Empire GU Board calls, AGMs and other interactions with the Empire GU Board. The club President (or the club's functional equivalent) is strongly encouraged to directly participate in all appropriate EGU matters, as they serve as the chief officer of their respective club. Should the club President not be available, another person may be designated. If a club chooses to have another individual other than its President (or functional equivalent) speak on its behalf, that other person (including their name, CIPP number and club title) must be communicated to the Empire GU Board, in advance of the respective meeting.

Deadline to RSVP is 5p August 4.

Nominations for the following EGU leadership positions are being accepted:

* Director of Rugby

Each position is a two (2)-year terms. Individuals who are CIPPed to a full member club in good standing may nominate individuals to be candidates for any Office by written notice no later than the thirty (30) days before the subject Annual General Meeting and any such nominations shall be listed in the agenda published for the Annual General Meeting. Nominations are due by 5p July 8 and should be sent to [email protected].

2022 EGU 7s Championship Series
Empire GU is proud to announce the 2022 EGU 7s Championship Series. The competition will kickoff on June 11 and will feature seven tournaments over the course of the competition.

June 25: Tri-State 7s (Danbury, CT)
July 2: Rochester 7s (Henrietta, NY)
July 9: New Jersey 7s (South Brunswick, NJ)
July 16: New Haven 7s (Cheshire, CT)
July 23: Buffalo 7s (Buffalo, NY)

Teams participating in the series will have their Top 4 tournament finishes counted towards the standings. 

As the Series has been modified from previous competitions, clubs and members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Series Rules & Information.

Union County Rugby Holding "Rugby Virtual Fun Run"
The Union County Rugby Football Club, located in New Jersey, has been in operation since 1974 and touts over 1,000 club members from kindergarten age to adult. To assist in its fundraising efforts and to foster some friendly competition within the rugby community, Union invites you to challenge yourself to one (or multiple) of the virtual race options by logging your total accumulated mileage over a time frame of your choosing. Your selected mileage doesn't have to be done all at once & you can walk, run, or bike to completion!

Certification Required for All EGU Clubs Hosting Tournaments
EGU member clubs seeking to host a non-league Spring / Summer Tournament MUST have the tournament approved and certified by Lex Maccubbin, EGU Director of Rugby.

All tournaments will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Tournament and dates will be reviewed so as to not conflict with additional non-league tournaments and EGU-sponsored events (Spring Cups, Select Side competitions, etc.).
