EIMA Immediate Past President Steve Smithwick Honored at Members Dinner

At the EIMA Members Dinner on March 19, Immediate Past President Steve Smithwick of Master Wall was recognized for his exceptional leadership and dedication to the EIFS industry during his two terms as EIMA president. Incoming EIMA President Jose Berlingeri of Sto Corp. presented Smithwick with a commemorative plaque and a special gift on behalf of the membership, honoring his contributions and lasting impact on the association. Smithwick continues to serve as an active member of the EIMA Board of Directors.

Construction Industry Economic Outlook for 2025: Keynote Insights from Kermit Baker

Zurich Insurance Talks to EIMA Members About Underwriting Insights for EIFS

Industry experts from Zurich North America shared valuable insights on risk management strategies in construction during the Members Luncheon on day two of the Annual Meeting. Zak Waldstein and Anthony Lapiana discussed advanced loss control and underwriting practices, including subcontractor prequalification, professional liability, and evolving insurance frameworks. The lively session served as a long-overdue starting point for an in-depth conversation between the EIFS industry and the insurance industry, with education and communication playing a critical next step.

Shaping the Future: The Rising Stars Program

At the "Elevating the Next Generation – The Rising Stars Program" session, held on the last day of the meeting, David Hutchinson highlighted how the program has been equipping young professionals (ages 16-24) with mentorship, technical training, and hands-on industry experience to bridge the skilled labor gap in construction. Attendees gained valuable insights into mentorship strategies, hands-on training opportunities, and industry trends shaping the future workforce. Whether seeking ways to support emerging talent or introducing young professionals to sustainable career paths, the session provided meaningful takeaways on cultivating the next generation of EIFS installers.

Winners of EIFS Excellence Awards Unveiled

The distinguished winners of the 2024 EIFS Excellence Awards were announced at the EIMA Annual Meeting at a ceremony following the Members Dinner on the evening of March 19th. The awards celebrate exceptional projects clad with exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS), renowned for their performance, sustainability, durability, and aesthetic flexibility.

“The 2024 EIFS Excellence Awards winners exemplify the best of what modern building envelopes can achieve,” the jury remarked. “These projects push the boundaries of architectural creativity while leveraging EIFS technology for superior insulation, moisture protection, and long-term durability.”

EIMA congratulates all winners and extends its appreciation to the architects, designers, contractors, and manufacturers who continue to advance EIFS innovation. 

Driving Industry Change: Key Highlights from the EIMA Working Groups and Executive Director’s Report

The EIMA Working Groups gathered at the EIMA Annual Meeting, bringing together a range of perspectives, expertise, and insights. Through collaboration and innovation, these groups leveraged collective knowledge to advance key initiatives aligned with EIMA's Strategic Plan. In his Executive Director’s Report to the EIMA membership, Stephen Sears highlighted the association’s significant accomplishments over the past three years, including advancements in advocacy efforts, expanded technical resources, strengthened industry partnerships, and increased awareness of EIFS as the premier cladding solution. Looking ahead, with new Board leadership in place, EIMA is poised to build on this momentum by reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and resilience.
