First Day of School Updates:
FIRST DAY COHORT MEETINGS | 8:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 8th

We want to keep things simple for our families. On Tuesday morning just before 8:00 AM, students will log-in to their Cohort Meeting. During that meeting, students will be guided through accessing their schedule and how to attend classes. You can find the link (each one is a "tiny url" link and can be typed into a web browser to join) for the cohort meeting on the first day on the document found HERE! If your child is not sure which cohort he or she is in, check to see who the English teacher is on the schedule and use the document linked above to match it to the cohort number.

HISD CONNECT POWERSCHOOL & STUDENT SCHEDULES | Available Now!
Letters were mailed out on Monday with directions and access codes for PowerSchool. This is the new Houston ISD system that you will use to check grades and attendance and complete enrollment information. Once you log-in, you will see your child’s schedule. If you did not receive the paper in the mail, you can email Ms. Rodriguez (MRODRI21@houstonisd.org) and she can give you the necessary information. Starting on Friday, students will be able to log-in to the student portal on PowerSchool using the usual HISD username and password.

Please keep in mind that deans are still working hard to balance classes, make any changes that were requested over the summer, and audit schedules for any duplicate classes. There might be some shifts before Tuesday morning, but the students will access their final schedules during the cohort meeting. Starting on the first day of school, students can submit a form to make any necessary course changes on their schedules. They will receive information on that process during the cohort meeting.

FIRST WEEK SCHEDULE | Available Now!
Don’t forget that the schedule for the first week is different due to the Labor Day Holiday. This and other important information is available in last week’s Parent Orientation Video at www.tinyurl.com/EnergyParentOrientation2020. Below are the schedules for your reference.

Welcome and welcome back Energy families!

Each year that I have been a proud momma of an Energy student we have had some very exciting moments and interesting challenges to overcome. From snow and floods to new campuses and world robotics competitions... but, we have never had this opportunity. We are starting school online, during a global pandemic.

I think the most amazing aspect of this school is how we can take what is offered, utilize it to its fullest potential and create a viable, working solution.

Your PTO is following the same route as your students will this year. We have a Project and we're going to collaborate and innovate to make solutions happen!

Our first project is reaching you, our fellow parents. Please log on to www.EnergyInstitutePTO.org to sign up for our newsletter so that you get updates for virtual PTO meetings, parent coffees and volunteer opportunities. These are great ways to reach out to other Energy parents.

Membership will be our follow up project, please purchase a membership at your own comfort level. Our general members are the heart of the PTO. With your contributions the PTO funds support cohort grants, transportation for field trips, teacher appreciation and supplements our amazing maker space!

Please join me as we work towards interesting and innovative solutions to support all the amazing teachers, students and staff of Energy Institute HS.
