Help Bring Solar Energy to Sandoval County

before Trump takes power

There is an important opportunity for EJC members to support a renewable energy project near the Diamond Trail Ranch off NM 14 near Golden, NM. This is a solar and storage farm that will save 11.6 billion gallons of water and 1.4 million tons of CO2 per year. The income from this $450 million investment will allow the ranch owners to continue their conservation work and will support jobs, county budgets and town of Bernalillo schools.

There has been substantial community NIMBY opposition to this project backed by NM legislator(s) who are oil/gas funded.

Click on the Action Button below to email county commissioners and sign up to speak at the Sandoval County Planning and Zoning meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 4:30PM. If you are a PNM rate payer, let the commission know because you have a voice as such even if you do not live in Sandoval County.

Contact Muriel if you would like to attend with other EJC members and for talking points.

We are grateful to our member Stefi Weisburd for bringing this important event to our attention. You may send any questions you have to her here: weisburd@mac.com.

Thank you, Walter Gerstle, Interim President of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association for providing the much of the above information.

Pending Albuquerque Ordinance in Support of Renters

December 16, the Albuquerque City Council will meet to discuss Ordinance 24-59 which is designed to require cooling in all residential rental units. As climate change impacts the city, it is critical that renters are protected from increasing temperatures. Heat-related reactions can be deadly as was explained by Dr. Pope at our October Membership meetings.

The meeting will be held in the Vincent E. Griego Council Chambers, basement level at 1 Civic Plaza NW and begins at 5 pm. Please come and speak in support of this critical health-related ordinance (O-24-59). If you cannot speak, please contact your city councilor. You can find the address at the link below.
