Danville Lockdown

As of Sunday afternoon, Danville is still on lockdown. The water situation may be resolved by the time you read this. If you're scheduled to go out to the prison and have any doubts, call the prison directly at 217.446.0441. You can ask the officer who answers the phone if the prison is still on lockdown.

Hopefully you will have received direct instruction if you're on the schedule, but we're providing this information just in case.

Proctor LSAT Exam - Feb 9

EJP student Ron Palm is planning to take the Law School Admissions test on Friday Feb 9!

We need to identify a proctor who can oversee the admission of the test at Danville Correctional Center. No experience required!

The test usually takes 90 minutes, but Ron will be given as much time as he requests, hence we're looking for someone available on Feb 9 from 8:45 am - 11am.

Interested in being part of history? Please contact info@educationjustice.net if you're available to proctor Ron. Thanks!

Sign up for HRI Table on Feb 16

The Humanities Research Institute is hosting a Graduate Open House and Resource Fair on Friday February 16 from 2 - 5pm. It's a great opportunity to let graduate students and others on campus know about EJP opportunities. At 300 Levis Center (on W. Illinois St in Urbana).

It would be ideal for two to four graduate students to share the time between them. Please let us know ASAP if you're available!

Please indicate your availability here.

February Critical Conversation

EJP students selected mental health as the topic for this year's critical conversation. They believe it's important for everyone involved with EJP to have the opportunity to think about and discuss this topic, especially in relation to incarceration.

The first critical conversation of the semester is next month:

Thursday Feb 29, 2024

Participants should plan to attend the full 90 minute meeting and actively participate to fulfill this requirement. (Members are required to attend either a critical conversation or an EJP retreat each year. The next retreat will be Saturday March 30.)

If you have any questions, concerns or need any accommodations to fully participate, please feel free to reach out to our DEI Coordinator, Julia, at dei@educationjustice.net or juliaspielmann0@gmail.com.
