Update: EJP Becoming a Center

We hold monthly meetings on the progress we're making on institutionalizing EJP on campus. It's been a long process, and we want to make sure you stay informed along the way!

Our January meeting included the news that EJP is going to stay in the College of Education, and work closely with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on select program areas. For more on that, and the progress towards actually becoming a campus center, join us via zoom:

Thursday March 13

10-11pm Central

Please come with your questions, or just to listen and learn to what it means for EJP to become an official unit of the University of Illinois. Please RSVP if possible.

These events are for incoming EJP members involved in our college-in-prison program, but others are also welcome to come and learn.

The next discussion is Tuesday, March 25, 5-6pm Central

Future meetings:

Wednesday, April 30, 5-6pm Central

2024-25 EJP Handbook Is Out!

The all new 2024-25 EJP Handbook is now available. We require all EJP members to read the current handbook annually and indicate their understanding and acceptance of our policies by signing this Jotform:

https://educationjustice.jotform.com/220805296881058

The handbook will orient you to the wide EJP "universe" and familiarize you with our new initiatives. From the Introduction:

"At the time we were founded, EJP was the only prison education program offering for-credit classes from a publicly funded university in Illinois. Today, there are more than a dozen higher education programs in Illinois .... We would like to think that EJP has contributed to the growing number of educational opportunities in prison and helped to change the public perception of those impacted by incarceration."

You can read the EJP Handbook online.

If you have not yet completed it, please make this a priority!

Thank you!
