May 12, 2026

Just a portion of the wonderful spring 2026 EP interns! Wishing them the best with their summer plans.

Good Luck with Finals!

Wishing everyone the best with finals and wrapping up this semester, especially given the disturbances with Canvas over the past week. It's a strange comfort to know that the students at Danville don't have access to that, or any, learning management system and that their final projects and tests haven't been impacted.

EJP events, as usual, are winding down over the summer, but there will be an important update on becoming a center later this week, and several EJP lunches scheduled for the summer. Hope to see you at some of them!

Take Care,

Rebecca Ginsburg

EJP Director

Upcoming EJP Events

EJP Becoming a Center Update

Thurs May 14

11am - 12 pm Central

Zoom

We hold monthly updates on the progress we are making towards becoming a center on the University of Illinois campus. It's been a long journey and becoming a center (as opposed to a research project) has many implications.

Please join us at our May meeting for an important update. It would be great to have many EJP members and allies present to share and discuss.

Future updates will be held on:

Tuesday June 9, 11 -2

Tuesday July 14, 3 - 4

Thursday August 27, 4 -5

Please indicate your questions and concerns on the RSVP form, below, so we can be sure to address them at the meeting!

If you have any questions or concerns, or need any accommodations to fully participate, please reach out to events@educationjustice.net.

EJP Summer Lunches

Monday June 1

12 - 1pm
Hybrid

We're holding three summer lunches this year!

All members and interested or curious others are welcome to join us either in person, at the EJP offices on campus, or via Zoom. (Individuals who join via Zoom should expect discussion to start around 12:10, after in-person participants have had a chance to grab their lunches.)

All summer lunches will be veggie-friendly and held from 12 - 1pm Central. The dates are:

Monday June 1
Friday July 10

Thursday August 20

You can sign up for any or all via the RSVP link below.

If you have any questions or concerns, or need any accommodations to fully participate, please reach out to events@educationjustice.net.

EJP Member Announcements

Are you an EJP member looking for weekly announcements? We're trying something new. Member announcements will be arriving in your Bamboo inbox later this week.

Paid Positions with EJP

Some EJP positions can be held virtually, some are hybrid, and some (those based at Danville Prison) require that an individual be able to regularly visit the prison. Our preference is always to hire local individuals and we especially seek candidates who have personal experience of incarceration. Click on the links below to see complete job descriptions.
