[BLOG] One Bad Apple To Cost Knox County Taxpayers $$$s

Now comes the Plaintiffs DANIEL STEWART, DOUGLAS RYERKERK and WILLIAM KEE suing Defendants KNOX COUNTY, TENNESSEE and KNOX COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION d/b/a KNOX COUNTY SCHOOLS and would show this Honorable Court as follows:

[This is the case of three (3) fired Knox County Schools Security Officers which is an ongoing complaint against one individual named Gus Paidousis. By all indications and the letters of this complaint, Paidousis is an individual the school system should have cut ties with long ago but refuse to do so. As a result, every Knox County Taxpayer will have their tax dollars wasted on defending him when he appears to be underserving of the job he has or the efforts to retain his services.]

“1- This whistleblower case stems from systematic retaliation against Plaintiffs, all of whom were experienced security captains overseeing key aspects of the Knox County Schools Security Department, said retaliation being taken by its Chief of Security, Gus Paidousis, and done in collusion with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.”

“2- Plaintiffs repeatedly complained about Chief Paidousis. In addition to complaints about the violation of laws designed to protect the health, safety, and welfare, their complaints, including reporting his intention to violate the Americans with Disabilities Act and statements of race discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.”

“3- Plaintiffs brought their complaints throughout the governmental hierarchy of Knox County from Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, through each of three (3) Superintendents of Knox County Schools and to each and every member of the Board of Education of KCS. With the exception of one board member, no person took any action to stop Chief Paidousis from engaging in illegal conduct, or to stop his retaliation against the Plaintiffs.”

“4- As shown herein, the wrongful actions of Chief Paidousis, the collusion of the KCSO in assisting him to find a pretextual reason to have their employment terminated, and the inaction of the Knox County Mayor, three (3) Superintendents of KCS and all but one member of the Knox County Board of Education were exacerbated by other complaints of illegalities about Chief Paidousis from numerous other employees and the children who attend Knox County Schools, all is set forth herein indicates some level of corruption the extent of which is currently unknown.”
Having heard Chief Paidousis speak about issues like why he didn’t answer his phone in the wake of a school shooting threat, his ability to orchestrate innocence in the face of obvious guilt and conversations with those having intimate knowledge of the genesis of this whistleblower/retaliation/discrimination lawsuit, it’s clear this ‘good ‘ole boy’ is being protected at taxpayer expense.

Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with protecting a ‘good ‘ole boy’ as they’ve certainly been coddled since this country was founded. They’ve gotten jobs they didn’t deserve. They’ve gotten jobs they weren’t qualified for. They’ve gotten bank loans and mortgages they weren’t entitled to and Lord knows they’ve committed crimes for which they have not been punished but in America – this is, has been and will continue to be accepted. It just is what it is!

But in 2018, with all that we face as a nation, as a state and as a county, we should not be paying to defend a ‘good ‘ole boy’ who has proven that he is foul and unworthy. During the pendency of this litigation, we’ll focus on this costly litigation and bring to the attention of the voters more explicit details contained in the remaining 40+ pages of the complaint as well as sharing detail of Chief Paidousis’s misdeeds at the expense of his subordinates and ultimately the children his is charged with securing.

Time is out for turning a blind eye to corruption when it’s staring us in the face. The best thing that could have happened when ‘responsible’ officials became aware of Chief Paidousis’s misdeeds, discrimination, racism and retaliation against his subordinates would have been immediate termination but as is customary in this country, ‘good ‘ole boys’ tend to not be fired when they should be.
This time around, we’ll shine a bright spotlight on how this is handled and put a price tag on what protecting this ‘good ‘ole boy’ will cost the taxpayers of Knox County. #EKCM
