School News

The BES Kindergarten ESOL team is looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and fun! The ESOL teachers are Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Delgado, and Mrs. McCranie. We're thrilled to be a part of the first year of your child's educational journey! The ESOL teachers work directly with all teachers to provide high-quality instruction. We are also committed to establishing a connection with the ESOL families in our school district. We are currently in the process of screening students to determine if they will be eligible for ESOL services. Once we start meeting in our ESOL classes, we look forward to building a great learning community together. We know it's going to be a great year together and we're excited to see all of the students grow in their English language skills. Please feel free to email us with any questions!

Hello! Hola! 你好!مرحبا! Xin chào!

We are your ESOL teachers at Buford Senior Academy!   We enjoyed meeting many of you during Open House & Curriculum Night.  Our students, new and returning, have had a great start to the school year. They are so happy to be here and eager to learn! This is going to be an amazing school year full of fun and excitement in the classroom!  We will be focusing on improving their English language proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You can help your child at home by making sure they read a little every night. They can read their library books or books on MyON which they can access through their Canvas. We look forward to a wonderful school year!

Welcome Back! Bienvenidos!

Buford Middle School students had a wonderful start to the school year. They are fully immersed in learning English, reading, writing, and grammar. They have already analyzed the parts of plot by reading wonderful stories such as "The Goodness of Matt Kaizer," "Seventh Grade," and "Lob's Girl." Additionally, they are working on developing grammar skills with the help of Daily Grammar Practice. Programs such as Membean and Imagine Learning are teaching them English vocabulary.

Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions or concerns.

New and exciting things are happening at Buford High School! Officer Bert Garcia and Assistant Principal Maria Pacheco visited the Newcomer EL class and did a special presentation in Spanish. They reviewed all of the important information that the students need to know about school rules and policies. The students were able to ask questions in their native language.

BHS had Curriculum Night on August 29th. This year, Spanish-speaking parents were invited to a special session hosted by AP Maria Pacheco, Lynda Fouquette, and Brooke Heindel. The presentation and power points were all in their native language. Parents were reminded of school policies and procedures, as well as graduation requirements, and how to check PowerSchool. They were also educated about community services that are available.  Please make sure you are checking your student's grades in PowerSchool, assignments in Canvas, and announcements on the high school website.
