The BES ESOL teachers are so proud of our students for all that they've shown us on the Kindergarten ACCESS test! The Kindergarten ACCESS helps teachers and parents understand the student’s current level of English language proficiency and provides teachers information to enhance instruction. We all look forward to receiving the score reports (test results) in May 2023. The students had fun celebrating several special things this month, including Dad’s Day! BES WOLF WALL: Do you need some fun online activities for your child to do at home? Click on the Wolf Wall button above to see all of the webpages students can use both at home and school.

We are springing forward into March as Buford Academy. First, Second and Third graders are undergoing ACCESS testing. Thank you to all of our families that attended the parent night to find out more information about what your child would be experiencing. We are so proud of the efforts and abilities that our ESOL students displayed. It will be a while before we receive individual results, but we are confident that your child did their personal best!

Congratulations to our 2nd grader, Olivia Arreola for completing the Reading Eggs program! We are so proud of her! We will be having our schoolwide Wolfathon race and celebrate Dr.Seuss week as we push into the final few months of school.

Please remember to check behind your child to see that they are completing homework assignments for all subject areas and that they are provided reading practice opportunities at home. Third graders are preparing for the upcoming Milestone testing in the weeks ahead. Please look for more information to arrive from your child’s Homeroom teacher. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve your child’s language needs at Buford Academy! We truly enjoy learning alongside them each day.

Mrs. Tsouchlos' class enjoyed having a fun restaurant project after ACCESS testing! They did a complete restaurant simulation with waitresses, chefs, and servers all the while practicing their English. Mrs. Jarrard's class joined them as their customers! It was a lot of delicious fun!

We were so proud of all of our students' hard work on the ACCESS test that we surprised them with a sweet & salty treat! Students were surprised when they walked into the lunchroom to music, popcorn, cookies, and juice. They enjoyed eating their treats and talking with friends.

We are so excited to have received a wonderful shipment of incredible books. Thanks goes to our Central Office for providing the funds for these books. They are Newbery Honor books as well as books that have received the Pura Belpre Honor. The kids are anxiously awaiting to dive into them.

Additionally, the middle schoolers have been preparing all week for the upcoming ACCESS test. We have been practicing Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing skills on WIDA's platform. They are ready for the challenge! Please make sure your student is well-rested and present the week of February 20th. As soon as the results become available, we will get them to you.

Brooke Heindel's American Literature students just completed a unit on Realism. They created these One-Pagers which explore literary devices the author uses within each work.
