ELAM 30th Anniversary Celebration Recap

Wow, what an incredible milestone event with the ELAM community!

We commemorated ELAM’s 30th anniversary celebration with a distinguished two-day event on May 1-2, 2025, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia. The celebration commenced with a gala dinner featuring a keynote conversation with Nobel Prize recipient Katalin Karikó, PhD, moderated by Cathie Siders, PhD. Dr. Karikó received the ELAM Pinnacle Award and has chosen to direct the accompanying $10,000 prize to establish a fund supporting program fellows facing financial barriers to participation. The Breaking Through Fund will have lasting impact.

The evening also included a presentation of the ELAM Network Survey by Inga Carboni, PhD, and an awards ceremony honoring outstanding alumnae and supporters. Please join us in congratulating the 2025 recipients and honorees of the ELAM 30th Anniversary Awards!

The second day offered a series of insightful sessions addressing contemporary challenges in academic medicine. Highlights included panel discussions on managing institutional resources and leading through adversity, with contributions from esteemed ELUMs and supporters. Attendees also engaged in optional lunchtime presentations, exploring topics like the historical contributions of women physicians and strategies for navigating leadership opportunities. The afternoon featured a fireside chat with Anthony Fauci, MD, providing valuable perspectives on public health leadership, and concluded with a keynote address by Lilly Marks with more pearls of wisdom.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! We are so grateful for your continued support and contributions to the ELAM legacy.

ELAM shined brightly in the Philadelphia skyline with a special 30th anniversary celebration message on the iconic PECO building.
