This showcase of your IAP posters and abstracts will be shared via the online platform Fourwaves. ELUMs are encouraged to submit an abstract and poster, even if you are not attending the anniversary. Linda Fried, MD, MPH (ELAM ’97), received the Stephen Smith Medal for Distinguished Contributions in Public Health, presented by the New York Academy of Medicine. The award was given in recognition of Dr. Fried’s numerous achievements in research, leadership, and advocacy.

 

Elizabeth Kovacs, PhD (ELAM ’10), was quoted in an NBC News article titled “Surgeon general's suggestion to put a cancer warning on alcohol is long overdue, doctors say.”

Study examines gender composition in the physician workforce

A new study co-authored by the AAMC and published in BMC Human Resources for Health examines gender composition in the work environment. Among the findings, the authors found that higher representation of women physicians in the work environment benefits women physicians’ payments with little to no impact on men’s payments, supporting ongoing efforts to reduce gender income disparities in the physician workforce.
