Making an impact against the COVID-19 Pandemic

What is ELC? The Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) Program, funded by the CDC Foundation, provides hundreds of millions each year to all 50 states, several cities, and U.S. territories and affiliates to detect, respond to, control, and prevent infectious diseases.

As a regional grantee of the ELC grant, CJFHC funds Community Based Organizations (CBOs) with mini-grants, to develop and implement effective health communication & community engagement strategies to respond to the COVID-19 disease needs of vulnerable populations in the central region.

Global Grace Health BTCNJ Mobile Covid Relief

Reformed Church of Highland Park-Affordable Housing Corporation: "Be the Change"

During February and March, RCHP-AHC provided COVID-19 outreach to some of the most vulnerable in region: the homeless, the undocumented, refugees, and low-income families. They provided food, PPE, and vaccination registration as well as collaborated on vaccine clinics.

Latin American Legal Defense and Education Fund collaborating with

Henry J. Austin FQHC as a vaccine clinic.

LALDEF vaccinated 266 low income and/or undocumented people.

Trenton Mayor Visit

Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora and his health team recently visited Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton's behavioral health campus in preparation for coming vaccine clinics, which aim to reduce the vaccine gap for the region's Latino and Black communities.

NJ Black Women Physicians Association

NJ Black Women Physicians Association served 85 people in Asbury Park, offering testing and registering the community of color to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Prevention Links hosted a variety of educational and engaging programs for families of young children, focused on dispelling the myths and highlighting the benefits of vaccination for COVID-19.

Trenton Health Team recruited Youth Ambassadors to create billboards and videos on COVID 19 and the vaccine. THT also created educational material for 400 take-home art kits for Trenton families & children in honor of Art Making Day.

BIANJ conducted vaccine registration, hosted educational programs and provided advocacy for the brain injured and their caregivers.

RWJ-WHI is developing the Mother's Touch App, which will prompt women of color to access resources and services during pregnancy. Follow @motherstouchapp on social media!
