FROM DIANA, ELC DIRECTOR
I love quotes, and when the world seems difficult, I often read some of the quotes that make me think! Just think, think about who I am, why I do what I do, and how I respond to those around me. Trying to understand how I see the world, how other see that world. Knowing that I have experienced things that are unique to my journey, but somehow have served me well even if at the time I didn’t think so.
Usually, if I have a hesitation about things, I will weigh all the factors, to make sure I am charting a correct course. As I reflect on my 1 year anniversary at the ELC, I am thinking of how much things can change and develop over the course of a year. I am glad I made the decision to accept the position of the Director of the Early Learning Center, and I could say I am not glad about having to lead us through a Pandemic, but this would not be entirely true. There is always a silver lining, and I think through this difficulty, it has created a space for us to operate more like a team. It allowed us to address conflict, but still come together as a community and know that we have to work through the difficulties at time to really appreciate what each of us bring to the unit. I am proud of the teams I lead. Each and every person has discovered something new about themselves and is either reflecting on this newness and growing, or using their discoveries to recreate their own goals. Whatever has happened to us individually or collectively at this time, we have all learned. It is this joy and frustration with learning, that we want to continue exploring with each other, the children and families and faculty of the ELC and University of Delaware. We are excited to be back in our learning space and we are excited to welcome all of our families back as well. Please know we extend our love and graciousness to each of you and cannot wait to see what our future has in store.
Warmly,
Diana
