Cauliflower Pizza Crust
This is a great hands on activity for children involving the ever-so-popular cauliflower as a flour substitute! A starchy vegetable that can be turned into one a kid’s favorite (and adult’s) foods!
Recipe for 1 Medium 9” Cauliflower Crust
1 cup riced cauliflower (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup grated or shredded Parmesan cheese
1 egg beaten
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp crushed garlic
1/2 tsp salt
Tomato or pizza sauce for topping
1/2 cup to 1 cup Mozzarella cheese for topping
Additional toppings of your choice
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add cauliflower to microwave-safe bowl ( no water needed) and microwave 5-7 minutes depending on microwave power. Put cooked cauliflower in mesh strainer in sink and press water out with paper towels (important to drain most out). Put drained cauliflower in mixing bowl and add Parmesan, egg, Italian seasoning, garlic, and salt. Lightly mix all together. Spray baking sheet with non-stick spray. Press dough out to make an approximate 9” crust. Not too thin or holes will develop. Bake at 450 for 15 minutes.
Take out and add your favorite sauce, Mozzarella, and toppings. Bake an additional 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted.
