Dear ELC Families:
Our center, St. John's Lutheran Church Preschool, is participating in the Colorado Shines assessment of our program's quality to ensure that all children have access to high quality early learning experiences. We want to do the best job we can to provide your child/children with a safe, loving environment that offers many opportunities for learning. Your survey response will help us accomplish this goal.
As part of this process we ask all families to anonymously complete the following survey about how we work with you. After all surveys have been received, Colorado Shines shares the aggregated results with us in order to help us better serve your needs.
You are asked to complete a survey each time our program participates in this process.
Some of you may not have been a part of the St. John's ELC for very long, and therefore some of these questions may be a little more difficult to answer. We have attached a document here for your reference, that gives some clarity on the way we do things here at St. John's ELC. Please review the document prior to completing the survey to assist you when answering the questions.

We do not celebrate Halloween here at St. John's, but we will be having Pajama Day on Thursday, October 31st, 2024. No costumes, please, but you are invited to send your kiddo to school in his or her PJs! | |

School Photos Expire Soon
This is a friendly reminder that the opportunity to purchase your kids' photos is ending this weekend! Photos will be archived October 27th. Please check your email for a message from Genuine School Portrait Co. with a link to the photos.
The email from Genuine School Portrait Co. may have been marked as spam or filtered into another folder. You can also try searching for Genuine School Portrait Co. in your email inbox.
If you still can't find the email, you can contact Genuine School Portrait Co. directly at info@genuineschoolportraitco.com
Shipping: If you choose to ship your images, expect to receive them within 7-10 business days. Orders shipped to the school will arrive 10 days after the order deadline.
Minimum order: $25 per child
Support your school! A portion of all profits go back to your school.

Picture Retakes
Picture retakes will be done on November 6th. If you would like your child to be on the list to participate in picture retakes, please reach out to Daisy Farhat.

The PTO would like to have volunteers bring the teachers snacks and drinks every Friday morning. We will put the snacks and drinks out for the teachers, if you will bring them at drop-off or pick-up.
Please, no snacks containing nuts, as we want to be cautious of allergies in the ELC.

Cara Benton - K-8 Office Manager
Hi, I'm Cara! I started my education journey back in 2015 at St. John's as an Assistant Preschool Teacher at the Early Learning Center (ELC). I quickly realized how much I loved working with young children and dedicated myself to early childhood education. After St. John's, I moved to a preschool in the Highlands neighborhood, where I worked my way up to Director.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Religion with an emphasis on Ministry and Leadership from Vanguard University of Southern California. This, along with my hands-on experience, has given me a unique set of skills and a deep understanding of both education and spiritual growth.
People know me for my genuine love for others and my enthusiastic approach to service. I'm so excited to be back at St. John's and can't wait to bring my experience and dedication to the children, families, and staff here. When I'm not at school, you'll probably find me in the mountains with my husband, our son, and our Boston Terrier, Sassy.

We have wonderful and dedicated Pastors in our midst! Please take some time in October to let Pastor Andrew and Pastor PJ know how much they are appreciated. A heartfelt greeting card or note is always a great idea, but that’s not the only way to show them that they are valued. You could also give them their favorite snacks or treats, a gift card to a restaurant they enjoy, or simply volunteer your time in some way to fill a need. The possibilities are endless! Let’s bless them, because we are blessed indeed!

Please join us for Trunk-or-Treat at our Highlands Campus! On October 26th, we will be hosting our annual Trunk-or-Treat from 4-6pm in the Renewal Church parking lot.

This is a big event for us as we engage our community, and we would love your help, if you are willing and able. We are looking for people to decorate trunks or volunteer in other ways.

All-Saints Day is a celebration of all whom God has made his own through faith. If you have a friend or loved one who has gone home to be with Jesus over the last year and you would like them honored in a memorial video in church on November 3rd, please email their name to Sherri Stegeman by October 28th.
