A Farewell Message From Our Director Ms. Sheri
Good-bye, my friends!

I have loved my time with you! The students who brought smiles and giggles! The parents who confided in me and shared their life stories with me. It's been an honor and privilege! Thank you for sharing your ups and downs, your joys and heart breaks!  I am so very, very grateful for the time that I have spent at St. John's!

As I leave, I know that you are in good hands with teachers who love and care for your children, Principal Barnard who is leading our school with faith and confidence, and Ms. Abi who passionately loves children and our teachers! No matter the time line, God has good plans!

May God bless each of you!
6 Signs that your child is ready to potty-train

Every parent eagerly awaits the moment they can finally get their child out of diapers. There are some telltale signs that show your child is ready to potty-train and take the leap. Although the idea of having to potty-train can seem somewhat nerve-wracking, it really doesn’t have to be that way at all. If your child is exhibiting some or all of the signs listed below, then there is a very good chance that you can successfully potty-train without it being a hair-pulling experience.

WHAT’S THE BEST AGE TO START POTTY TRAINING?

Naturally, children meet their developmental milestones at different ages, so it really does depend on the child. Most experts will tell you that between the ages of 18 months and 3 years of age is a good time to begin potty-training your child. Starting to potty-train between these ages is ideal because it’s usually around this age that children can understand and are more coherent.

Staff Snack Sign-up

Every other Friday the PTO would like to get volunteers to bring staff snacks and cool drinks. We will put the individual snacks and drinks out for the teachers, if you will bring them at drop off or pick up! We can't have nuts and due to COVID snacks must be individually packaged. Please see the link below to sign-up for upcoming dates. Thank you all so very much for bringing special treats for the staff! It is so appreciated!

St John’s will have a Lockdown Drill next week

Every child’s safety is extremely important to us, and we want to be confident we can be prepared to respond quickly and safely to any situation. St John’s School has adopted the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) as our way of preparing for, and responding to, any schoolwide emergencies.

Next Thursday, September 22, we will practice a Lockdown drill. A Lockdown would occur when there is a possible danger inside the school building, and we want to ensure all students and staff are safe. During a Lockdown, we take three actions:

Locks: teachers lock all internal doors to their rooms.
Lights: teachers turn off all classroom lights.
Out of sight: students move to a location in the room where they cannot be seen from internal hallways.

We will be practicing this drill next week. All students will be told - in advance and at the beginning of the drill - that we are practicing and that they are safe. Denver Police will work with school leadership to assess the drill and give recommendations if necessary. Following the drill, you will receive notification that the drill is complete.

If you would like more information on the SRP, please review this parent information, or go to iloveuguys.org

"The St John's Journey Wall"

We're excited to open "The St John's Journey Wall" in September, which is located on the right hand side of the entrance hallway (near the ELC entrance). Each month, one student's work will be selected from each grade and proudly displayed in our gallery. You'll see work from our youngest children in ELC all the way to our leaders in 8th Grade, which paints a lovely picture of how St John's students grow and develop during their time here.

We'll let you know each month when a new group of work is on display, so that you can drop in and admire the wonderful work taking place all across the school.

Women's Huddle
Join me on Thursday mornings at 8:15am starting August 25! This group consists of current moms and moms of students who have graduated from St. John's. We meet in a room across from the Church Office from 8:15-9:15am. We study God's Word in a variety of ways - book study, sermon series study, prayer and life application. This is a great way to get connected and have a group of women who support each other through our day-to-day life. Contact Carolyn Otte at [email protected] for more information!
