Teacher Appreciation
Next week we will be taking some time to acknowledge and appreciate all the ways our wonderful teachers work so hard every day to love, teach, and serve here at St. John's. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful team who love what they do and love your children so much.

Additionally, we are blessed by our leadership who also give so much of themselves. Another big thank you for taking the time to make Miss Abi feel loved and appreciated as she has recently accepted the permanent role of ELC Director here at St. John's. She genuinely has a heart for this place and every family that walks through our doors. She has been out this week enjoying a well deserved vacation, so feel free to pop in next week and congratulate her if you haven't had a chance to do so yet.

As you consider writing special notes to your child's teachers during teacher appreciation week, perhaps you are unsure who is all in your child's classroom every day, or how to spell teachers' names. Please see the attached ELC Staff List. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher.

Summer Withdrawal
Though the ELC is open through the months of June and July, many families choose to withdraw for a number of reasons (vacations, camps, older siblings out of school, etc.). If you do plan to pull your children out for the summer months only, please submit a Summer Withdrawal Form to the office by Monday, May 15th. This will help us with summer staffing and classroom plans, as well as gives us time to communicate what we need to and make changes to your account with the accounting department.

As parents of young children, you know all too well that whining comes with the territory. Most parents feel it is one of the biggest challenges of raising children at this age. While it is certainly not something that can be avoided entirely, there are some great ways you can minimize how much and how often your children resort to whining. See the link below for some applicable solutions and time-tested tools to help manage the inevitable phases of whining.
Miss Elise
My name is Elise Torpy and I am the lead teacher of the Butterfly classroom. I have been teaching at St. John's for 3 years. I have been teaching 8 years overall. I worked for a year at Treasureland Preschool, The Nest for 2 years, and I have also worked at the Auraria campus daycare. On Sundays I enjoy teaching in Sunday School at Christ Church.

I have a cat and my boyfriend and I have been dating for 6 years. On the weekends I love going with friends to work out at the gym, go to lunch, or go shopping. I also enjoy going to dinner or the movies with my boyfriend and hanging out with his family. I love working with your children and hope to have children of my own someday.
