Message from Interim Director, Abi Newell
Dear Families-

I am excited to step into the role of Interim ELC Director during this time of transition here at St. John's. Though I am new to the Director role, I have been an Assistant Director for the past three years, and have learned a lot from Ms. Sheri during my time working with her.

I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for the past 11 years, including spending several years teaching in the ELC classrooms here at St. John's. I recently returned to St. John's, after spending a few years at another center, and realizing that St. John's was really the best place for me to work. It is home, and I am so excited to be back.

I have been going to church here for over 25 years, was confirmed here in 8th grade, and even went to school here myself a few years as a child. I sing on the praise team both here and at our Renewal campus. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development, with a concentration in Elementary Education. Then I did some Post-Baccalaureate coursework in Early Childhood Education to become qualified as a Large Center Director.

I would love to put faces with the names on emails that I receive, so feel free to stop into the office and introduce yourself. I also tend to be out in the hallway during pick-ups in the afternoon, unless I'm helping in the classrooms. I am looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know your kiddos this year.

School Picture Days
this Monday and Tuesday
September 26 & 27

All ELC students will take individual pictures on September 26 (M-F and M/W/F students) & September 27 (T/Th students).
Pictures will be taken by a professional photographer and ordering will be on online. We will send you an online link when pictures are ready to be ordered.

We will have a make-up picture day on October 5.

Staff Snack Sign-up
 
There are still a few spots left! Every other Friday the PTO would like to get volunteers to bring staff snacks and cool drinks. We will put the individual snacks and drinks out for the teachers, if you will bring them at drop off or pick up! We can't have nuts and due to COVID snacks must be individually packaged. Please see the link below to sign-up for upcoming dates. Thank you all so very much for bringing special treats for the staff! It is so appreciated!

"The St. John's Journey Wall"

We're excited to open "The St. John's Journey Wall" in September, which is located on the right hand side of the entrance hallway (near the ELC entrance). Each month, one student's work will be selected from each grade and proudly displayed in our gallery. You'll see work from our youngest children in ELC all the way to our leaders in 8th Grade, which paints a lovely picture of how St John's students grow and develop during their time here.

We'll let you know each month when a new group of work is on display, so that you can drop in and admire the wonderful work taking place all across the school.
St. John's & Renewal Women's Conference
October 22 | 9am-4pm

We are so excited to invite you to the St. John's and Renewal Church's Women's Conference, where we will explore what it means to live our everyday lives as women with minds focused on eternity. We will listen to teaching that is spiritually deep and transformational and at the same time have an opportunity to create new friendships with other women. 

The cost to attend is $20/person. We will provide a light breakfast (and coffee!!!) as well as lunch. We can't wait to see you there!
Women's Huddle
Join me on Thursday mornings at 8:15am starting August 25! This group consists of current moms and moms of students who have graduated from St. John's. We meet in a room across from the Church Office from 8:15-9:15am. We study God's Word in a variety of ways - book study, sermon series study, prayer and life application. This is a great way to get connected and have a group of women who support each other through our day-to-day life. Contact Carolyn Otte at [email protected] for more information!
