Tomorrow at 9:30 AM, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams and New York City Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Chair of the Committee of Transportation, will hold a press conference outside of the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Atlantic Terminal station entrance, joined by local elected officials and transit advocates, to call for a compromise in negotiations between the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) and labor unions that are preparing to strike this weekend, as well as to urge the MTA to establish a contingency plan for LIRR commuters from the five boroughs that travel daily to Nassau and Suffolk counties; currently, there are no such arrangements made for the thousands of riders that might be affected by this service disruption.
