POST-ELECTION AUDIT OF VOTING EQUIPMENT
Following the November 8, 2022, election, the Town of St. Germain was randomly selected by the Wisconsin Elections Commission as one of 350 Wisconsin polling places to conduct a statutorily mandated post-election audit of electronic voting equipment.
The purpose of this audit is not to confirm election results. Rather, the audit is to ensure that the tabulation of votes by electronic equipment is accurate.
Four contests were selected by the Wisconsin Elections Commission for this audit.
St. Germain conducted the audit on November 30, 2022, on the Image Cast 400 (ICE) machine which utilizes the ballot marking device. With the assistance of seven local poll workers, a full-day labor-intensive manual count was undertaken of 1,257 ballots following strict procedures and time deadlines.
The manual totals for all four contests showed no discrepancies against the totals on the electronic ballot tape. The electronic equipment tabulation was deemed 100 percent accurate.
If you see any of our election workers, please thank them for the job they do before, during and after poll hours. They are the BEST!
