AN EMERGING LEADERS OF GAMING COMMUNICATION
IN THIS ISSUE

FEATURES
Save the date for our upcoming webinar with Sports Betting Community, featuring members of the SBC Leaders community and the Emerging Leaders of Gaming 40 Under 40. On Wednesday, August 25, at 1:00 p.m. ET, join us for Beyond Traditional Thinking: Finding the Right Partnerships to Deliver Gen Z. During this one-hour program, speakers will examine the current opportunity - created by an influx of new entrants from media and sports - for leaders in iGaming and sports betting to go beyond traditional branding partnerships in order to capture the next generation of bettors in the U.S.

"We are thrilled to partner with Sports Betting Community on this compelling exchange between current and next generation leaders, on a potentially industry-shifting topic," said Michael Soll, president of The Innovation Group (TIG), founders of the Emerging Leaders of Gaming program.

The session will ask leaders to consider how Gen Z behaves differently and what the industry needs to do now to position themselves at the front of the pack with this key demographic. Other key questions to be examined will include:
  • How do Gen Z bettors behave differently from traditional bettors, and how do iGaming and sport betting leaders need to adapt?
  • What is the long-term potential for operators of partnering with sports teams and media organizations?
  • What opportunities exist to drive greater fan experience within Fantasy and Esports?
  • How do leaders continue to enhance fan experience without attracting the wrong attention from regulators?
  • How will these new models pan out? Is a seismic industry shift on the horizon?
Speakers will be announced soon. Follow @gaming_leaders and @SBCGAMINGNEWS for updates.

Just over a year ago, every gaming property in the country had closed its doors to help protect public health and stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. Of course, closing casinos is not as simple as turning off the lights. Operators and suppliers worked closely with the thousands of regulators across the country to maintain the security of the properties and games, establish necessary records, and create protocols for reopening.

All of this was accomplished while we navigated our new work from home arrangements. Like all workplaces, gaming regulators and licensees found themselves thrust into a remote work environment, with the added complication of shifting oversight of licensees to a virtual and digital format. This meant virtual interviews, teleconference agency meetings, and digital licensing and paperwork filings.

Now, as the world is reopening and we return to in-person activities, it is worth inspecting what of these changes and modifications are worthy of permanent adoption. The gaming industry is often heralded as an innovative, cutting-edge, technology-centric business. But sometimes, regulatory oversight functions do not benefit from this same forward-thinking ethos. However, the forced adoption of many technologies through 2020 and into 2021 may be a roadmap to establishing a newly efficient regulatory system for licensing, meetings, and filings.
