Ohio State University's Tzu-Jung Lin shares her perspective on the Early Learning Network’s research program in Ohio, including exciting research questions around peer experiences.

She is particularly focused on increasing our understanding of how social connections in the classroom affect children’s learning and ongoing academic success.

Ohio State University is conducting research studies in two school districts in Ohio. The OSU team is working to identify specific education practices and policies that promote development for all children, with a particular focus on examining how friendships formed in the classroom influence children’s learning and development.

The Early Learning Network, funded by the Institute of Education Sciences , leverages its expertise, resources and geographic diversity to help close the achievement gap and maintain early learning success as children transition from preschool to third grade. Together, network researchers from universities and organizations across the U.S. are examining current policies and practices, identifying malleable factors associated with early learning and achievement and developing tools to assess early learning instruction, interactions and environments.
