BROWNFIELD UPDATE: EVRAZ Steel Mill (425 acre)

Delaware Gov. Announces New Transit Center at Old Steel Mill Site

Redevelopment of the former Claymont Steel Mill site took major strides forward last week with the announcement of a new $71 million transportation center to break ground in April 2019.

"This train station will be a catalyst for new development in Claymont," said Delaware Governor John Carney.

The transit center will accommodate rail, bus, bike, pedestrian, and auto, and is the first step in the construction of First State Crossing - a $500 million development which will include 3.7 million sq/ft of office, retail, light industrial, hotel, and residential.

Commercial Development Company, Inc. (CDC) purchased the 425-acre brownfield site in 2015, and Environmental Liability Transfer Inc. (ELT) by affiliate assumed the environmental liabilities. Today the site is shovel-ready and on it's way to a major rebuild for Claymont, Delaware and the surrounding areas.

BROWNFIELD UPDATE: Brayton Point Power Station (1600 MW)

Transforming a Retired Coal Power Plant for Offshore Wind

ELT jumpstarted the cleanup and redevelopment of the largest coal-fired power plant in New England, with the purchase and environmental liability assumption of the 300-acre site in January 2018 (via Brayton Point LLC).

Today the power plant is 50% demolished and represents a unique opportunity to advance the emerging US offshore wind energy sector. By leveraging the site's outstanding logistical attributes and investing in needed site improvements, we are repositioning the site as Brayton Point Commerce Center. See demolition progress in photos below.
