ELT Announces Purchase of Retired Meredosia Power Plant from Ameren

ELT has announced the  purchase of the retired Meredosia Power Station from Ameren Energy Medina Valley Cogen LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ameren Corporation. The transaction included the acquisition of real estate assets and the assumption of legacy environmental liabilities associated with the site. ELT will now oversee the plant's decommissioning, demolition, environmental remediation, and site redevelopment going forward.

Since 2014, ELT has purchased retired power plants from companies such as Dynegy, AEP, DTE Energy, Alliant Energy, Indiana Michigan Power, and others. With the addition of the Meredosia Power Station, ELT's accumulative power plant portfolio represents over 3600-MW of retired generation capacity.

Throughout the remediation & demolition process at Meredosia, CDC will be evaluating the market and meeting with local economic development leaders to find end users who could benefit from the site's attractive features, which include 800 feet of mooring cells and an offloading facility with conveyor on the Illinois River, a Norfolk Southern rail spur, and access to high-voltage, bulk electrical power from Ameren Illinois.

CDC Ramps Up Development Plans for Former Evraz Steel Mill

Four and a half years after purchasing the former Evraz Steel Mill site in Claymont, DE (outside Philadelphia) , Commercial Development Company (CDC) is ramping up for a large-scale, multi-use development called "First State Crossing".

CDC's development plans include over 3 million square feet of new construction - 1.8 MSF for residential (1,200+ townhomes and apartments), 989,000 for office, 380,000 for industrial, and 105,000 for retail.  Additionally, the site will host a new and upgraded Claymont train station, slated to be finished in early 2022.

Brett Saddler, executive director of the Claymont Renaissance Development Corp., believes First State Crossing offers  the largest economic development impact of any project now under way in the state.

POWER Magazine: Redevelopment Project Converts Site from Coal to Renewables

Brayton Point Redevelopment Underway - December 2019

The former Brayton Point coal plant's transformation into an East Coast logistics and manufacturing center, renewable energy hub, and international seaport is a symbolic milestone representing the first of its kind in the US. Instead of developing new energy centers subject to uncertainties, the combination of this brownfield conversion, using existing assets and new investments, provides important catalyst for sustainable redevelopment.
