BROWNFIELD UPDATE: Brayton Point Power Station
VIDEO: Implosion of 500-ft Cooling Towers at Brayton Point
The two 500-ft cooling towers at Brayton Point came crashing down this past weekend in Somerset, MA. In early 2018, ELT assumed environmental liabilities and decommissioning obligations at this 1600-MW retired power plant - this action jumpstarted remediation, demolition, and extensive redevelopment planning.
Once the largest coal-fired power plant in New England, the implosion of the cooling towers at Brayton Point represents a significant milestone towards the development of "Brayton Point Commerce Center" - a world-class logistical port and support center built to support renewable energy and the emerging US offshore wind sector.

ELT has been named a 2019 recipient of an Environmental Leadership Award by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey (CIANJ). These awards recognize the efforts and greater impact of companies around the state who actively work to support and protect the environment.
A few of ELT's key New Jersey projects are listed below:
Hamilton, NJ:
In 2015, ELT assumed environmental liabilities at a 68-acre former brownfield site in Hamilton, NJ - since that time ELT and affiliates have demolished 1,000,000 square feet and remediated environmental impact of past operations. CDC now plans a mixed use development expected to begin in 2019. The $100 million project will include over
500,000 sq/ft of office, research, and light industrial, hotel & retail.
Perth Amboy, NJ: ELT assumed environmental liabilities at a 70-acre retired smelting facility, in Perth Amboy, NJ. Working through New Jersey's Voluntary Clean-up Program, ELT and affiliates completed environmental remediation and demolition at the site. New development plans are being finalized for a logistical support center with deepwater port and rail access.
