A recent survey of Canadians conducted by Clean Energy Canada and Abacus Data revealed that we all have a lot of work to do when it comes to raising awareness about the benefits of EV ownership. Results show that “only 21% of Canadian adults think they 'probably never will' own an electric vehicle. At the other end of the spectrum, 19% (the equivalent of more than 5 million people) say they love the idea of owning one, and another 31% are interested in considering one” (Clean Energy Canada, 2022).
The poll also covers information about how Canadians feel about the likelihood that EVs will become the dominant mode of transportation in the future, how long it will take for EVs to make up the majority of vehicles driven, and compares data from 2019 with data from 2022 that measures what kind of car (EV versus gas) Canadians would choose if they were purchasing a new vehicle.
