In applications requiring EMI or RFI shielding, every gap must be considered to have the greatest chance of passing an FCC or other radiated emissions test. Perhaps the most overlooked cause of a gap is from connectors that are bought aftermarket.
In most military applications, electronic connectors will be standard sizes under the MIL-DTL-38999 specification. It should be noted that many non-military producers will also use these standard connectors since they are tested in the harsh environments experienced in oil & gas, automotive, and other markets. Learn more about how to accomplish EMI shielding, as well as environmental sealing with one gasket, in our latest blog.
