June 29, 2021
Greetings!

We are excited to announce that another legislative session has come to a close. The 2021 Session started in January of this year and wrapped up on Saturday evening. It has been our honor to represent Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and the faith community in the Oregon Legislature this year.

We will be in touch soon with a comprehensive overview of the session as we begin to look to the future. For now, we want to direct your attention towards sharing in our excitement for a few key bills that we are incredibly proud to have been involved with this year. We humbly extend our gratitude to those of you who helped advocate for these bills in a variety of forms. We would not find our victories without the partnership of all of you, and we look forward to continuing to partner with each of you in the future.

For now, please join us in celebrating the passage of the following bills:

  • HB 2544, Pertaining to support services for Unaccompanied Houseless Youth: Passed unanimously through the House of Representatives and had no less than 37 legislative sponsors!
  • More than doubles Oregon's investment in services for this population.
  • HB 2842, Healthy Homes: Will fund home repairs and retrofits to improve the health of families in low-income and environmental justice communities.
  • HB 2021, 100% Clean Energy: Will require all of Oregon's electricity to be emissions-free by 2040, guaranteeing environmental, health and economic benefits for communities across the state.
  • SB 844, establishes a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in Oregon.
  • SB 718, Welcoming Refugees Bill: Passed as part of a larger funding bill, ensures continued investment in social services for immigrants and refugees.

We will be in touch soon, thank you all for your continued partnership on these efforts.

With gratitude,

Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon's Public Policy Team
