I am happy to announce that the East Moline Public Library is officially getting an outreach vehicle! Thanks to the Anna Mae Swanson Trust, personal contributions from our Board of Trustees, the Hampton Public Library District Board of Trustees, the FRIENDS of the Library, and other key stakeholders, we are at the halfway point of our fundraising goal. We are currently reviewing proposals for the design of a vehicle that will allow the library to bring materials, resources, and programming to multiple different neighborhoods in the community. Once we have our new library vehicle, we have planned stops at Hereford Park, Empire Park, Babcock Neighborhood, Butterworth Park, Fire Station Tot Lot, Wyman Park, and Mitchell Park. We hope to be in full swing by summer 2027.
We still have a way to go in fundraising to reach all of our stops. For more information about the library vehicle or to make a donation to help us expand our reach, visit our Library Vehicle Campaign website.

Director’s Bookshelf
Recursion by Blake Crouch is a book about time travel (my personal fav!) that is unique in both plot and how time travel is conceptualized. It is a bit difficult to give a synopsis without giving away any of the many twists and turns this book takes. I personally find time travel fascinating and really liked that this story is set in modern day and does a decent job of logically explaining how time travel might be achieved. The story also focuses a lot on how one person's time travel would have a butterfly effect on others. The first half of the story is great and action packed. The second half drags a bit but concludes with a relatively satisfying ending. Definitely a story to check out if you enjoy time travel.
Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson is Goodreads' 2025 winner for best mystery and a Good Morning America book club pick. For better or worse I do have to jump on the bandwagon to read popular titles in order to retain my title as Librarian. With so much buzz around Holly Jackson's latest mystery, written for adults no less, I decided to give this a chance. I am currently 25% through the audio book and not very impressed. Usually I always recommend listening to an audio book, but I wonder if this book might be better in print. While the narrator fits the main character's personality with a raspy, sarcastic voice, they don't have much range. Many of the characters have off-putting pitches to their voices. Artistic license aside, the "walking dead" angle to the story far-fetched. Hopefully the masses prove me wrong and this book turns out to surprise me.
