Feature Project

USACE New Visitor Center & Entry Gate Patrick SFB, FL

EMR is coming to a close on the $13M Design and Construction of the main Entry Control Facility (ECF) for privately owned vehicles (POV) at Patrick Space Force Base (SFB) in Florida. This project has been in the works since the middle of June 2022. It includes a a visitor center, POV gatehouse with canopy and ID check stations, POV inspection facility and a POV over watch.

At this time, the barrel tile roof is being installed, and sod will be complete the first week of April. The wear coat of asphalt is being placed over the entire site and A1A in mid-April. We anticipate BOD for the buildings is in the first part of May. When security forces complete their network set up we will demo the existing gate and be on our way!

We would like to take a moment to thank the on-site EMR team who made this project successful:

Kyle McDorman (Sr. PM), Samantha Chuck (PM), Joe McDorman (Superintendent), Sherwood Steele (Superintendent) Sam Estok (QCM), Nick Guilbeau (SSHO / Base Access)

We know you rather be working in Mississippi, but appreciate you taking one for the team and posting up at the beach!

EMR Family Spotlight

Last month, we received nominations for co-workers deserving of recognition. We could not narrow in on one person because each face you see below is worthy of praise.

EMR Safety Award

"Luis Marquez shows drive and determination to attain a superior and high quality finished product that will pass any inspection. His work ethic carries over to safety as well. Not only does Luis safely preform his tasks, but he also goes out of his way to watch out for the other trades on site and brings any discrepancies to the attention of the management. While addressing punch list items, Luis makes sure to ask for the proper PPE to address the task at hand, and when asked why he goes out of his way for other trades Mr. Marquez said, “to make sure everyone gets home safely to their families.” Always wearing the proper PPE, wearing harnesses on lifts, and wearing safety-belt on equipment without managerial direction are just a few of the reasons why Luis Marquez is deserving of this safety award."

- Nominated by Israel Rodriguez (EMR SSHO)

The EMR Safety Award is given to an outstanding employee or subcontractor that demonstrate best safety practices while on the job site. This month's winner receiving a gift is...

Immediately after receiving the award in late November, EMR coordinated with our Electrical Engineer and Electrical Subcontractor to procure the transformer, which originally had an estimated lead time of 877 days (~2.5 years). EMR notified NAVFAC of the long lead time during the proposal phase, which prompted them to increase the period of performance from 640 days to 900 days and issue a DPAS rating. After the transformer manufacturer received the DPAS rating letter, they were able to prioritize our order and reduce the lead time to 365 days! The project management team is coordinating with our subcontractors to complete all preconstruction submittals, submit RFI’s, and install temporary utilities and the office trailer. Current completion date is May 26, 2026.
