Principal Letter

Hello East Families!

In the coming days, our students will participate in the Wisconsin Forward Exam. This assessment is a key tool that helps us understand how well our students are mastering state standards in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

Why is this important?

The Forward Exam provides valuable data that helps our teachers tailor their instruction to meet the needs of every student. It also ensures our school continues to provide a high-quality education that prepares your child for the next grade level and beyond.

How can you help your student prepare?

  • Rest: Ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep before testing days.
  • Nutrition: A healthy breakfast helps students stay focused and energized.
  • Punctuality: Please ensure your child arrives at school on time, as testing begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
  • Encouragement: Remind your child to simply do their best. If they don't finish a session, they should Pause and Exit rather than submitting, so they can finish at a later time.

Blood Cancer United Fundraiser

Mrs. Medd, one of our Band teachers, is fundraising for Blood Cancer United! As a Blood Cancer survivor herself, Mrs. Medd holds this cause very close to her heart. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma her first year of teaching. Thankfully with the help of Blood Cancer United and her medical team, Mrs. Medd has been in remission for 7 years as of March 29th!

She's asking for your help! HERE is a letter explaining the fundraiser, and HERE is a direct link for our school's team page. The fundraiser is from March 18th - May 30th. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Medd at k.medd@ocfsd.org - thank you!

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Artist: Brigit Prince

Students had to create an original invention. A billboard with both a drawn version & digital version.

Brigit is an incredible and very creative artist. I’m blown away by her talent. She is wonderful to have in class ~ Ms. Chiappetta

Background Checks

The District Volunteer Background Check Application is online. We will no longer be accepting paper applications. Every volunteer must complete an online volunteer application form even if you were previously approved and are on the Volunteer Database. You will still need to submit an online volunteer application every five years after the initial online application. This new process will have results within 1-2 days!

The link can be found under the Parents tab on the district website.
